accredited buyers representative

buyer representation done right

ABR®, or "Accredited Buyers Representative," is a designation offered by the National Association of REALTORS® to agents who have gained field experience working with buyers and have completed additional real estate coursework relating to buyer representation. ABR® Designees stay up to date on the latest trends and are trained in strategies to give you the most smooth and stress-free transaction possible.  With the goal of helping people always at the forefront of my business, this seemed like a great tool for me to ensure that I am "covering all the bases" for my clients and that I'm well-versed in every strategy that competing offers may be using.

If you are a buyer who chooses to work with me, expect to be informed and equipped with the knowledge you need to make important decisions every step of the way.  We will start with a meeting to discuss your needs and expectations, and I will give you an idea of how a transaction works, what kind of paperwork you will see, and what each step of the process entails. You will leave equipped with the knowledge you need to begin your home search! And in the spirit of sharing knowledge with potential homebuyers who may be visiting my website, I'd like to close by addressing 3 common reasons buyers may be leery of working with a real estate professional:

  1. They want to save money. I have had buyers tell me that they would "hate to pay a commission on top of the cost of buying a home." Lucky for them, they don't have to!  In typical real estate transactions, the seller pays the commissions for both the listing and the buying agents.
  2. They don't know if they are ready to buy yet.  Uncharted territory can be scary, and many people don't even know where to start when buying a home.  Here's the good news: You can set up a meeting with me, for free. to get all of the information you need.  I will explain the home-buying process, show you the paperwork to expect, and set you up with a list of fantastic financial professionals who can assess your situation and tell you how much you can spend on a house. Then, if you are ready to buy, we will start house hunting! And if you aren't ready, you will go home with lots of knowledge, you will have spent no money, and you may have even scored a couple free cups of coffee!
  3. They are afraid of being pressured into a house.  This one is nails on a chalkboard for me.  For most people, buying a home is their biggest financial decision. It is important. It is personal. And it should not be rushed.  If your real estate agent is rushing you through showings, flying through piles of paperwork they are asking you to sign without reading, or pressuring you to put in an offer on a house you're not quite sold on, that agent is not working for you— they are working for a commission.  If you work with me, expect patience every step of the way.  Expect explanations of your options without having decisions made for you.  Expect to have time to read through everything you sign before you sign it.  Expect to be treated with the same patience and care at the twentieth house showing as you were at the first.  Never let your agent stress you out.  Our job is to take the stress out of your transaction.  This process should be exciting!

Expect excellent, pressure-free service in buyer representation every step of the way.  I hope you choose to start your home search with me!
