Hi! My name is Emily Owens Wasserbauer. Owens is my middle name. Wasserbauer is a wonderful last name, but stressful to spell if you're not a Wasserbauer. My job is to take some stress out of your life—so it's Emily Owens.
I love helping people, and the house business has always been where I feel...well... at home. That's what led me to pursue real estate after graduating from Fairview High (Go Warriors), Ohio State (Go Bucks!), and Hondros College of Business, where I studied communication, business, writing and then finally real estate.
I grew up with a fantastic mentor— my mom is not only a real estate agent of 30+ years, but she had me demoing, painting, remodeling homes, and involved with investment properties from a young age. I bought my first investment property as soon as I was home from college. Real estate has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.
This brings me to present day, where I have wrapped my skillset into a one-stop-shopping package for my customers. Every client, every house, and every job brings new adventures and learning experiences, and helping people remains at the forefront of my business. You will see that helping houses is quite a joy for me too, though, if you take a look at my Before & After Gallery. I've developed an eye for fixer-uppers and revitalizing houses into clean, comfortable, and stylish places you will want to call home. Green shag carpeting and foil wallpaper get me far more excited than any old Architectural Digest house! No project is too small. The smaller renovation projects, I usually tackle on my own. The larger ones, I have fantastic contacts who specialize in all areas of home remodeling. And the homes that need nothing? Well, I sell those too! I work with buyers and sellers all over Northeast Ohio, and I look forward to discussing all your real estate needs with you!
Northeast Ohio is loaded with classic homes, many of which have been lived in and loved for decades. Decorating trends change, and each homeowner wants a personal touch. So it's no surprise when the current state of your home (and mine, for that matter) isn't the most sale-able for today's market. I work with sellers to suggest the updates and renovations necessary to put their homes in the best shape for sale. Notice I say "suggest"— some sellers prefer that I list their home in its current condition, and that's okay. Selling your home can be an emotional process, and some sellers want to move on before the renovations begin. No renovation is worth an emotional burden, and I am in the business of helping people first and foremost.
I work one-on-one with sellers to complete their preferred renovations, if any, to put their home in the best position for sale.
"Flipping" puts a sour taste in my mouth. How about you? When I think of "flipping houses," I think of crews flying in and out, slapping some paint on the walls, fixing the bare minimum, and selling the house to a poor, unknowing buyer (who is in love with the modern gray walls and shiny new light fixtures!) for a quick profit. But that buyer doesn't know the background of the home, and the flipper doesn't need to disclose any issues because they never lived there. This is not what we do, and it's a situation I try to help my buyer clients to avoid!
